Welcome to Market 124's paint your own pottery page! If you have questions about how paint your own pottery works at Market 124, read on!
Pottery can be painted anytime during business
hours at Market 124. Monday- Saturday
10:00am - 5:00pm Thursdays till 7:00pm.
No, you don't need to make a reservation unless you
have 6 people or more. Walk-ins are welcome! Make
sure you allow enough time to be finished painting
before Market 124 closes.
We have a wide variety of items anywhere from $4
figurines, $12 mugs and plates to $30-$40 platters.
Each item is individually priced and includes all
costs. There are no painting fees at Market 124!
If you don't finish your pottery don't worry! We'll pack
it up for you to take home and bring back to
finish at a later time. Payment is only required the
first time you paint.
It takes about a week to two weeks to get your
pottery back. We wait till our 10 cubic foot kiln is full
to fire. Sometimes it fills up fast and sometimes it
takes a little more time.
You can call us during our business hours and
schedule a private party. Great for birthdays, friends'
night out, or even retirement parties! If the party is
after hours there is a $10/hour charge. Ask about our
upstairs pottery room that seats up to 40 people.
We are a proud partner with Grandma Sugar's
Cupcakery and so we ask that you not bring
cupcakes to Market 124. Grandma Sugar's bakes
cupcakes in house, fresh every day. Market 124 also
sells Iowa wine and so we ask you do not bring your
own wine into our store. Other food, snacks or
alcohol is allowed (provided you're 21). We will
happily provide you with a list of downtown
restaurants as well as take out menus if you ask!
No. The paint used on the pottery is not like other
paints (It's actually a glaze) and it will wash out of
clothes. We do have some aprons available to be
used on a first come, first served basis.
Yes! We put a clear glaze over your piece before
firing to ensure that it will be sealed and safe to use.
Your pottery is lead-free, microwave and dishwasher
